Passchendaele Stew
A few years ago, we were in Passchendaele, Belgium. We retraced some of the historical steps of our Canadian soldiers from over 100 years ago and learned more about the tremendous battles fought there. We had the privilege of eating in a little pub that served an authentic officers’ meal from WW1 in a mess tin. It has taken me years to be able to replicate this stew but I think I have finally succeeded. It is a favourite in our home…. This stew is almost identical to what we ate that day.
Ingredients: LangSon Farms’ smoked ham and smoked hock, broth, potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, garlic, turnip, sauerkraut, salt, & pepper.
